JOKE SIA!

Haven't posted in a really, really long time. Blog more frequently on my japanese blog so.. (laugh)

So I've noticed that Mothers' Day is just around the corner. But a sudden thought struck me when I was thinking of what to get for my mom... And that is - Why is Fathers' Day not viewed as importantly as Mothers' Day?

I'm not sure about you, but I think that it's both equally important. I've never actually heard people say, "Fathers' Day is around the corner!" Which is weird, isn't it?

See, my dad does a lot of the “dad joke” thing, right. Since young, whenever we have dinner out at the coffee shop, my dad does this really shitty thing where he’d comment on every stray animal that passes by. And he always says the same thing about it. A stray cat passes by, he’d say “look! your friend!” A stray dog passes by, he’d say “hey, your friend!” A mynah or a pigeon passes by, pssssst! your friend!!!” There was once when he saw a lizard at the corridor while walking home, he stepped into the house and told me, “hey, you know, I saw your friend just now…” I got so pissed off, I told him, “I HAVE NO FRIENDS!!” (laugh)

I get really angry at my dad at times. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my dad, but he likes to push the limits. When I was 11, he told me “I’ll give you $1k, you move out and live by yourself.” By that age, I was already used to the kind of shit he says, right. So I told him, “Only $1k? That’s not even enough to last for a month!” He was so speechless that he just walked away.

2 years later, he told me, “I’ll give you $1k, you go get married and never come back. How about that?” Keep in mind that I was 13 that year. I’ve never really been a nice person, so I retorted, “Please. Take a good look at my face and tell me if someone even wants to marry me. They wouldn’t even want it for free if you were to throw me at them!” I actually meant it at that time, but he didn’t know how to react to it, so he just walked away. He tried to troll but failed terribly.

Then there was this time when he told me, “I’ll pay for your plastic surgery. You want?” I knew he was trolling, but I truthfully told him, “REALLY?? Omg I’d get my nose done first, then cut double eyelids. If you’re still willing to pay, I want to straighten my teeth!” That was a totally unexpected reply, so he just looked around and pretend he didn’t hear it.

As much as it's ridiculous, my dad tried really hard to be funny. I have to admit, he does succeed sometimes, but most of the time, he just gets shot down by me xD I do treat it as a joke, but I still appreciate all that he has done for the family.

As much as Mothers' Day should be celebrated, I think that Fathers' Day should be given an equal importance as well. For providing for the family, for "dad jokes", for the small moments where they humour you.

Siloso Beach + Christmas Party

A few days ago, I went to Siloso Beach with my cousin to get some fresh air. She just got rejected, and I'm just so sick of being in this course that doesn't serve a purpose... Or, much of it.

I really like this photo. It's been a really long time since we got to hang out like that, and I really missed that. We used to hang out super often, until I got busy with school, and she got busy with school. Hopefully, we'll get to do this more often. It's super comforting to talk to her because we've always been together since young. Most people mistake us for sisters, rather than cousins. She understands exactly what I'm talking about - the hate for my sisters, the irritating requests from jerks, really just anything. It was really fun that day even though we didn't do much, just sitting on the sand and chatting.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Went to meet Nimi today! Had to meet her slightly earlier because I had a bit of last minute shopping to do. Then, we headed towards Debbie's house and honestly speaking, even though it was a long day, it was really fun!

Before the party started. We just sat around and started chatting, since we were there early and there was only me, Nimi, Debbie, Jenna, Sandra, Hakimah, and Nadine. Around 7+pm(?) Marc and Joshua joined in, and we started dinner, even though Zi Ru wasn't there yet (laugh). But he joined soon after so I guess it's fine.

We exchanged gifts after dinner. These are what I got:

It wasn't a lot, but hey, I don't have many friends. But I didn't have to buy many gifts either, so I got that going for me, which was nice. (laugh)

These are what I got. I'm really touched by the letters/cards, because they wrote almost the same as what I wrote for me. It just shows how close we are, to the point that we know what each other is going to say. Also, Zi Ru gave me the chocolate bar (which I guessed correctly), but it was the first day we met. The rest have already met him, but I've never did. I thought it was rather sweet of him to give me something even though we don't actually know each other.

Honestly speaking, I don't really care what I get. They can give me cash and I'll be happy. What matters is the fact that they thought of me. It's the same as when people go overseas and buy something back for you. It's good enough that they thought of you, even when you're in different countries.

We just had dessert and stayed for a while after that. Had to rush home because it was getting late and her house isn't exactly near mine. In fact, it's super far away.

My super fail OOTD because the lighting was so bad, and I don't know how to pose (laugh). I shy (:3)

The surprise that I got when I came home:

I screamed when I saw it. I once tweeted that I want K and Halo for Christmas, and this came. ON XMAS DAY ITSELF! (FYI, K in featured in this book.) I was so happy! As a matter of fact, I still am. It wasn't my idea of K for Christmas, but it was somehow linked, so it's really good enough.

I was really shocked because it was released on Christmas Eve, and I expected it to come slightly later, since all the Christmas gifts are on its way to the recipient's house. It was such a pleasant surprise. I immediately opened it to K's page, skipping Aoi, Chisa, mitsu, maya, and tomo XD

The best part was that on the day I went to Siloso Beach with my cousin, this was sent to my house:

I can't explain how much I love this boy, because he just means so much to me. I was super ecstatic when I got it! Now I just look at it and feel like crying, because I love him so much.

Speaking of which, another year is coming to an end again. This year has been horrible, but I worked really hard. It wasn't easy for an anti-social person like me to go to a new school, meet new people, and work at something I am totally not good at *points to design*. I worked super hard for submissions, homework, and even to the point where I only get 30 mins to 1 hour of sleeping time. I cannot even remember how many times I said "I QUIT!" in anger and frustration, and how many times I was near to breaking down. The kind of bullshit that was thrown in my way was just... words can't even express it. But I worked hard.

I've never actually thought about my future, or what I want to do, what I want to be. I've never thought that I would be able to continue my education after secondary school, since I'm not the smartest person around. The thing that made me wake up was the fact that I realized, I don't know anything. You should know yourself best, yet I don't. Then what's the point of living a life like that? Even if you're living, it's definitely dreadful, isn't it? So I sat down, put everything I have on my table, and found a path that I would want to take. Of course, I've put much thought into it. It is a super slim chance, but it's worth a try. I don't want to give up. There's nothing else.

And the people who are alongside me as I fight this battle is none other than these lovely people who attended the Christmas party. I thought it'd be difficult for me to find friends, given my super anti-social personality, but they were always there for me, supporting me from the start of school. I'm really glad to have them as my friends. There's also other people, like all my bangya friends, all the super sweet secondary school friends (which is like what, 6 of them?). I cannot express how grateful I am.

Because frankly speaking, without my secondary school friends, I wouldn't have been able to get a score like that for my O's... and it's in a good way. Since we used to study together, we laugh at our own stupid little jokes, and we drama together. Without my bangya friends, I would never have been able to hear all these exciting stories, and I would never have went on the super fulfilling Japan trip this March. A few of them was always there encouraging me, constantly helping me without conditions, expecting nothing back in return. I really, really appreciate these people who stuck with me through thick and thin, not just leaving me when things get tough, or when things go wrong.

I'll end here today, hoping next year to be an even better year. True, this year has been terrible, but I'm grateful because of all the people I met. A little late, but Merry Christmas!

Birthday Party? + Study Date + Update

So I said I'll update about the birthday party/bbq... but it was quite bad. We planned for a bbq, but the weather turned bad. I mean, REALLY bad. It suddenly rained really heavily and we had no choice but to take shelter and wait for it to stop. It didn't. So we just waited for it to lighten up and walk to the bus stop.

Then, we took a bus to Parkway Parade for dinner at Sakae, then had... Well, I had dessert. Frozen yogurt ftw! Walked around for a little, then went home. It was a bad party, but I guess things wasn't so bad to the point that the birthday girls had a really horrible party? Hopefully.

The next day, Ayumi and I went to Bugis Starbucks to study/do work together. I think we were there for a good 6 hours? Yeah, it was horrifying. But I managed to finish my holiday homework, and worked on a bit of my designs.

After that, we went around Bugis Junction, Bugis+, and Bugis Street. Got ourselves mochi from MochiSweets! I missed the mochi so much! But the MochiSweets at Bugis+ will be closing down from next month onwards. ):

Mimi happens to work there so I popped by to see if she's working. Bad luck me, she was off that day LOL. So we just got our stuff and went off. Went home afterwards. Long, but satisfying day, knowing that I did work.

I've been lazing around at home so I feel useless. Yesterday, I watched 4 movies! Scooby Doo, Frozen, 5 Souls, and Shame The Devil.

I really liked Frozen! Olaf is so cute! Somehow reminds me of Joshua... always distracted, but super nice and very (subconsciously) cute. Speaking of which, I was supposed to meet him to watch Frozen, but I kind of cancelled it because I was having a really bad week. He was so nice that he actually understands, and said we'd just go out another day. The next day, he texted me and asked me how my day was. Oh my god, how does he not have a girlfriend, I don't know.

5 Souls was confusing. Catch the flow, but don't catch why. The plot is good, but it just needs an ultimate motive? It's not super great, but it's not sucky either.

Shame The Devil was really good! Great storyline, great development. "Tell the truth and you'll be free. Tell the truth. Shame the devil." Thought it was amazing to have a "truth or die" game. Of course, it'd be crazy, but if you have nothing to hide, then I think it'll be fun. Nobody gets hurt, right?

I'll be going to sleep soon so.. Sayou~

Take A Break! In Malaysia

Haven't posted in a really long time because there wasn't any.. "happenings". But I just got back from my Malaysia trip with my school not long ago, so I guess I'll be talking about it??

Okay here goes.

This is my luggage. No, not the yellow one, not the bag on top of it, neither is it any of those by the side. I went on the 3D2N trip with one bagpack. Literally one bagpack. I'm so serious about this. I was like.. one of the 2 who actually brought one bagpack for the trip.

So we had to meet in school, then made our way down with the whole class. The trip to Malaysia was AGONISING. I'm not joking, it was AGONISING. Maybe it's because I didn't have enough sleep, or maybe it's because I had motion sickness the whole time on the bus. I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

The very very pathetic "breakfast" we had in JB. It's probably one of the worst curry I've ever tasted. And it was conveniently located beside the best noodles store I've been to. LOL. The red patch is the curry is apparently chili. The prata was okay, but the curry was sweet. And the milo was sweet. Why is everything sweet?

After that, we headed to KL? Went to the Royal Selangor museum and factory. It was really cool though! The things in the museum was really awesome. It showed the history and the whole evolution of how Royal Selangor came about. Wait... Isn't that what museums do? (laugh)

This is damn cute! The crocodile, elephant, and tortoise was used as money in the past. You break off the limbs, tail, head, etc, and the value is determined by its weight. How cute is that! The tour guide told us that they even had special bags to keep the money xD They then changed to the money tree you see at the bottom of the photo. They just break the coins off from the tree and the stalk will be recycled, then made into more.

I forgot to mention that Royal Selangor uses pewter to make stuff, so everything is recyclable. Which is one fact that I really like. Recycling.

This is the tools they used (in the past) to make the pewter products. It's amazing because it makes you wonder how they made such exquisite products with just... well, that.

Handmade details which I really appreciate. The little dents are made using a hammer, and each dent has to be hit twice - the first time to determine the place, and the second to make it dent in. It takes about 6 - 12 months of training before the craftsmen can make the dents almost perfectly aligned.

I just thought this was a really pretty... thing. I didn't ask what it was, but it sure isn't a vase because the water would've leaked through the holes. Maybe it's a vase for fake flowers (laugh).

Oh, we went for this Hard Knocks workshop thing too. See that metal disc? It's a pewter disc and we're supposed to use a hammer to make it into a bowl.

Engraving my name. The first part fucked up really badly (bitter laugh).

After the shallow part of the mould.

After the deeper part of the mould.

The end product! They even gave us a cert, and a paper to wrap it with, and a box to keep it so it doesn't bend or anything. I thought that was rather sweet.

The "hands" of the workers. Good decoration idea instead of a mural xD We then went to the store part of the place.

Japanese styled teapot and cups! Cute!

Some of the products. I took way more photos than these, but I just posted some of those with the details to show how intricate it can get. Very beautiful.

Outside the place. World's largest erm.. pewter jug or something like that. Can't remember (cheeky smile). After that, we had dinner at this really, really awesome Chinese restaurant. Lunch sucked so bad that I didn't eat much.

The super awesome Chinese Restaurant. No idea where it is, but it's damn nice. The food... SUPERB. After that, we went back to the hotel and my teacher doesn't allow us to go out, but he says it'll happen anyway so he's just going to pretend that we're in our rooms meditating XD And the first thing to do when it's free and easy? That's right!

We stayed in Explorer Hotel, which is super conveniently located beside malls. Mahkota Parade, Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, Hatten Square, Plaza Mahkota... So convenient!

Oh, let me start on the Starbucks Adventure that Mimi and I had. So we went in and got our coffee right? And mine had a "ms." at the front and a smiley face at the back. When Mimi got hers, it just said "MIMI". It was funny because she complained why mine had a smiley but hers didn't. Apparently, it's cos she went to a different cashier (laugh).

So we had starbucks, and went shopping. Most of the shops were closed by this time (around 10pm? Yes, we had coffee at 10pm and could still sleep. As a design student, you can sleep even after 10 cups of coffee. Truth. We have so much coffee that it has lost effect on us) so we just went to the shops that were still open. Sasa was having sale for masks. 4 for RM10! Cheap cheap cheap! Just grab and pay!

Then we went to The Body Shop and bought the perfume that I wanted to get since some time back. We headed back to the hotel after that, because Mimi and I are lazy asses XDD

Morning of day 2! Tired, but ready for activities. I swear, it was the wrong choice to wear long sleeved layered top. Because we did a lot of walking in Jonker Walk, and it was super hot on that day. So hot that when we went back to the hotel for a short break before our day mission, I changed into a tee, which was supposed to be my "pyjamas" but I never got to wear it. LOL.

The walking and all was exhausting in the heat, but it was fruitful. I learned quite a lot, and got to see quite a lot.

I think it's called Famosa or something. Oldest building in Malacca, which used to be the entrance to a fort, built in 1511. Made of iron stone, and could withstand any sort of impact. Then we climbed 122 steps of stairs to the top of the hill, and to this gorgeous view:

The Straits of Malacca. You can actually see the hotel from the top, which is amazing! The wind was really strong too. Makes your 122 steps worth the climb.

Inside the church. This is a part of a tombstone. Look at the details! It's so pretty! And you've GOT to appreciate how they made all these with a chisel and a hammer. Who the hell had laser cut back then, right?

More photos.

Selfie! The view was so awesome, I just had to. No make up on, and my hair looks terrible. Oh well.

The only photo I took when we were walking around Jonker Walk. Look at the sky! Then we went for our day mission.

OOTD for the 3rd day, AKA Legoland! I must be mad to be wearing long sleeve again (laugh). I wore long sleeved top for all three days, which was quite crazy. But hey, even my socks are black and white. Cute as hell, kay!

Stopped at some place to buy stuff, and I got guava and herbal egg. Omg I was so tempted to get another herbal egg XD Super nice! Headed to Legoland after that!

Here, you see a very fail photo of Mimi and I in front of the Legoland thing. But it was the only photo we took together ):

And then there's me, who tries, but fails miserably, to take photo with the logo at the back.

Our lunch at Secret Recipe. It looks damn unappetising, but it was surprisingly good.

Just some of the structures in the Miniland area. All made up of lego. Impressing, isn't it? But I've seen all these before so I wasn't that amazed. The only thing I saw that made me run towards it, was this:

YES! The Star Wars miniland!! They didn't have it 11 months ago when I went, so I was pretty damn shocked when I saw it.

I love all these!! Super detailed, and you can actually tell who's who, what's what, and which is which part of the episodes. Super love it!!

After Legoland, we came back to Singapore. The only thing I missed was probably the hair dryer. And the thing I missed about Singapore on the trip, was my bed, my pillows, and probably the food here. All I can say about the food there is, it's not my type. LOL.

I'm very glad to have came back to Singapore because I didn't want to go for the trip at first. But oh well, I paid for it already so I guess I had no choice. Now that I'm back in Singapore, I've done nothing but lazing around. I feel like an ass. Thank god I'm having a party tomorrow so I guess I got that going for me, which is nice. Maybe I'll post in a few days, after the party :D

Until then, sayou~
